Requirement:
Develop a system that would provide environmental protection for the Boeing Delta IV Formed Isogrid Skins.
Design a light weight cover capable of withstanding all transportation and handling loads with minimal deflections.
Solution:
Developed a composite foam-core/aluminum structural skin to ensure system met weight, deflection and budget requirements.
Utilized Nastran Finite Element Analysis system to substantiate system deflections and structural integrity.
Utilized the Unigraphics CAD system to develop and evaluate system designs, clearances, and weights.
Employed M&T concurrent design and build techniques to compress the original 16 week delivery schedule to 5 weeks.
Recipient of Boeing’s Certificate of Appreciation and Accomplishment Award.
